Sauna With Friends: 5 Celebrity Stories That Prove It’s Better Together
The Rock and Joe Rogan, Ronaldo’s 2 AM squad, Coldplay in Helsinki, Samu Haber and the friends who built Löyly: proof the sauna is better together.

Dinner with friends? Lovely.
Coffee with friends? Always a good idea.
But apparently, some celebrities prefer catching up somewhere considerably hotter.
From rock stars to football legends, the sauna has become an unexpected setting for friendships, conversations and some seriously memorable moments.
Because sometimes the hottest place to hang out isn’t a nightclub. It’s a sauna.
1. Dwayne Johnson & Joe Rogan — The Rock Meets the Hot Rocks
Fast, Furious and Very Sweaty
What happens when one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars spends an afternoon with one of the world’s most famous podcasters?
Apparently, things get hot.
When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson visited Joe Rogan in 2023, the pair enjoyed an intense workout followed by sauna and cold-water sessions.
Johnson later discussed the experience on Rogan’s podcast.
Two famous fitness enthusiasts. One sauna.
And presumably, a lot of very large towels.
The Rock. The hot rocks. Perfect casting.
2. Cristiano Ronaldo & José Fonte — The 2 AM Sauna Squad
Team Bonding. Champions League Edition.
Most teammates celebrate a big match with dinner or a few drinks.
Cristiano Ronaldo apparently had another idea.
Former Portugal defender José Fonte recalled the squad taking saunas and ice baths together at two in the morning.
Ronaldo encouraged the sessions, and the team joined in.
For Fonte, the important part wasn’t simply the routine.
It was that the squad experienced it together.
Who needs a team-building seminar when you’ve got a sauna at 2 AM?

3. Chris Martin & Jonny Buckland — Coldplay Turns Up the Heat
A Sky Full of Steam
When Coldplay visited Finland for their first concerts in Helsinki in 2024, frontman Chris Martin and guitarist Jonny Buckland made time for a very Finnish experience.
A traditional sauna and a swim in the sea.
The pair told Finnish broadcaster Yle about their adventure ahead of the band’s concerts.
They’d travelled all over the world together.
But apparently, there was still something new to discover.
Coldplay. Hot sauna. Cool friendship.
4. Samu Haber — The Singer Who Made Friends in the Sauna
Friendship Avenue
Finnish musician Samu Haber knows a thing or two about making connections.
After all, he spent years performing with Sunrise Avenue.
But some of his most interesting connections happened away from the stage.
In a 2025 interview, Haber explained that saunas are wonderful places for conversation because people aren’t distracted by their phones.
He even described meeting future music producer Ilkka Wirtanen through sauna culture.
No networking app.
No awkward business lunch.
Just a hot room and a good conversation.
Sometimes the best connections happen when everyone’s phone is somewhere else.
5. Jasper Pääkkönen & Antero Vartia — Friends Who Built a Sauna
Some Friends Start a Band. These Two Built Löyly.
Finnish actor Jasper Pääkkönen and entrepreneur Antero Vartia shared an ambitious idea.
They wanted to bring traditional public sauna culture back to Helsinki.
So they built Löyly, the spectacular waterfront sauna destination that opened in 2016.
It wasn’t simply a private luxury retreat.
It was a place designed for people to gather, relax and enjoy the heat together.
A friendship. A big idea. A lot of hot stones.
That’s one seriously impressive group project.

Good Friends. Great Heat. Better Stories.
Whether it’s football teammates, musicians, movie stars or old friends, there’s something special about spending time together without the usual distractions.
